ナザレンコ・アンドリー
Andrii Nazarenko is a Japan-based political commentator, quadrilingual interpreter ( ), and analyst specializing in Japanese politics, society, and national security through an international lens.
Born in 1995 in Kharkiv, Ukraine, he developed a deep interest in Japan from childhood, inspired by his father, a former professional judoka. After graduating from a vocational technical college in 2014, he moved to Japan at the age of 19, studying at a Japanese language school before enrolling in Kyoai Gakuen University in Gunma Prefecture, where he majored in international sociology. During his studies, he served as president of the international student safety organization "YUI," supported by the Gunma Prefectural Police.
Nazarenko combines insights from Eastern European history with an in-depth understanding of Japanese society, enabling a unique dual-perspective commentary. He has spoken alongside senior Japanese officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Japan, and has delivered lectures at multiple Japan Self-Defense Forces bases.
Since his first public speech in 2016, he has become a recognized voice in Japan's political discourse. His work spans political analysis, nationwide lectures, commentary for television and radio programs (including Abema Prime and Sankei Shimbun), and interpretation for governmental and international institutions. He is the author of four books, including In the Rays of the Rising Sun (2018), The Fight to Protect Freedom (2019/2022), and Putin's War (2022). He also hosts the radio program "Nazarenko Andrii ga nippon de monomousu!" on Rainbow Town FM.
Beyond media commentary, Nazarenko has worked in international trade since 2020 and has served as an interpreter supporting Ukrainian refugees at Japan's Immigration Services Agency since 2022. He advises businesses and public institutions on Japan–Ukraine relations, East Asian security, information warfare, market-entry strategies, and contemporary Japanese politics.
He became a naturalized Japanese citizen in 2024.
